Institute for Math & AI, Wuhan (IMAI) was established in June 2023 as an independent research entity institute within Wuhan University. The instituteIMAI is led by Professor Zhang Pingwen Zhang (Director), thePpresident of Wuhan University and an aAcademician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as its Director, and Professor Weinan E (Chair of the academic committee), Chair Professor of Peking University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as the Chair of the Academic Committee. IMAI focuses on foundational foundamental and interdisciplinary research in key areas such asof mathematics, statistics, computer science, and cybersecurity. It aims to establish a talent hub in central China and, an internationally influential academic research center., and an innovation hub with foundational capabilities and application-oriented demonstration projects.
IMAI is now recruiting tenure-track positions on a rolling basis.

2. Support Policies
(1) Tenure-track Associate Professor (Research Fellow)
▪ Compensation:
− Annual salary starting from RMB 600,000 (including social security and housing fund contributions paid by the institution).
− Periodic support through Lei-Jun Foundation.
− Additional bonus based on research fundings and high-quality publications.
▪ Team Building:
− Guaranteed 2 Ph.D. students (including research-track Ph.D. candidates) and 2 postdoctoral researchers (subject to university approval) during the first four years of appointment.
− Priority support for establishing a research team.
▪ Start-Up Funding: 1-3 million RMB
▪ Housing Benefits:
− 1.4 – 2 million RMB Relocation fee, or University apartment.
− Monthly rental subsidy of RMB 3,500 for the first two years of appointment.
− Eligibility for national and local support policies.
(2) Tenure-track Assistant Professor (Associate Research Fellow or Research Fellow)
▪ Compensation:
− Annual salary starting from RMB 500,000 (including social security and housing fund contributions paid by the institution).
− Periodic support through Lei-Jun Foundation.
− Unlimited performance-based research and publication bonuses.
▪ Team Building:
− Guaranteed 1 Ph.D. students (including research-track Ph.D. candidates) during the first four years of appointment.
− Priority support for establishing a research team.
▪ Start-Up Funding: 1-3 million RMB.
▪ Housing Benefits:
− 1-2 million RMB Relocation fee, or University apartment.
− Monthly rental subsidy of RMB 3,500 for the first two years of appointment.
− Eligibility for national and local support policies.
3. Application Requirements
(1) Candidates must hold positions at world-class universities, research institutions, or disciplines of equivalent stature, or demonstrate comparable academic achievements, with the ability to independently lead academic directions and significant potential for further development.
▪ Tenured Associate Professor: National-level young talent or individuals recognized as having equivalent qualifications through evaluation.
▪ Tenured Assistant Professor: Individuals with the potential to become national-level young talent.
(2) Possession of a Ph.D. degree.
(3) Generally, candidates should not exceed 40 years of age.
(4) Full-time employment at Wuhan University is required.
