Institute for Math & AI, Wuhan (IMAI) was established in June 2023 as an independent research institute within Wuhan University. Professor Pingwen Zhang, president of Wuhan University and Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, serves as the Director of IMAI, while Professor Weinan E, Chair Professor of Peking University and Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, serves as the Chair of the Academic Committee of IMAI. IMAI focuses on foundational and interdisciplinary research in the key fields like mathematics, statistics, computer science, and cybersecurity. IMAI aims to greatly gather talents with the intention of establishing the academic center with international influence, the innovation hub with foundational capabilities and the application-oriented demonstration project.

2. Support Policies
(1) Tenure-track Associate Professor (Research Fellow)
▪ Compensation:
− Annual salary starting from RMB 600,000 (including social security and housing fund contributions paid by the institution).
− Periodic support from the Lei-Jun Fund.
− Additional bonus based on scientific research and high-quality achievements.
▪ Team Building:
− Guaranteed 2 Ph.D. students (including research-track Ph.D. candidates) and 2 postdoctoral researchers (subject to university approval) during the first four years.
− Priority support for building the research team.
▪ Start-Up Funding: 1-3 million RMB
▪ Housing Benefits:
− Relocation allowance of 1.4-2 million RMB, or the university apartment.
− Monthly rental subsidy of 3,500 RMB for the first two years of appointment.
− Eligible for other talents support from the national and local government.
(2) Tenure-track Assistant Professor (Associate Research Fellow or Research Fellow)
▪ Compensation:
− Annual salary starting from RMB 500,000 (including social security and housing fund contributions paid by the institution).
− Periodic support from the Lei-Jun Fund.
− Additional bonus based on scientific research and high-quality achievements.
▪ Team Building:
− Guaranteed 1 Ph.D. students (including research-track Ph.D. candidates) during the first four years of appointment.
− Priority support for building the research team.
▪ Start-Up Funding: 1-3 million RMB.
▪ Housing Benefits:
− Relocation allowance of 1-2 million RMB, or the university apartment.
− Monthly rental subsidy of 3,500 RMB for the first two years of appointment.

3. Application Requirements
(1) Candidates must hold positions of equivalent stature at world-class universities, research institutions, or disciplines, or demonstrate equivalent academic achievements, with the ability to independently lead academic directions and significant potential for further development.
▪ Tenure Track Associate Professor: Candidates should be recipients of national-level young talent programs, or be recognized as possessing equivalent qualifications through evaluation.
▪ Tenure Track Assistant Professor: Candidates should demonstrate the potential to qualify for national-level young talent programs.
(2) Possession of a doctoral degree (Ph.D.).
(3) candidates are generally under 40 years of age.
(4) Full-time employment at Wuhan University is required.
