Professor Jie Chen obtained his bachelor’s degree from Soochow University in 2008 and his Ph.D. from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, in 2012, under the supervision of Professor Wang Huaxiong. From 2012 to 2013, he conducted postdoctoral research at NTU. In September 2013, he joined East China Normal University as an associate professor and was promoted to full professor (researcher) and doctoral supervisor in 2015. In 2016, he was invited to serve as a visiting professor at the LIP Laboratory of ENS de Lyon, France. In November 2024, he joined Wuhan University as a tenured associate professor at Institute for Math & AI, Wuhan.
Professor Jie Chen has long been dedicated to the theoretical research of public-key cryptography. He has made significant contributions to challenging issues such as tight reductions in identity-based encryption and the security models and constructions of attribute-based encryption. As the first author, he has published seven papers at the “Big Three” top international cryptography conferences. In addition, he has authored or co-authored over 30 papers in IACR conferences, Designs, Codes and Cryptography, Theoretical Computer Science, and other journals. His research has been cited over 150 times in “Big Three” conferences, with single-paper citations exceeding 40 times. He has led three National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) general projects and the China Association for Science and Technology’s Young Talent Support Program. His awards include the Cryptography Innovation Award and the Excellent Young Scholar Award from the Chinese Association for Cryptologic Research (CACR), as well as the East China Normal University Young Scientist Award.
